Abstract
We measured the F_2 structure function of the neutron from semi-inclusive scattering of electrons from deuterium, with low-momentum (70-100 MeV/c) protons detected in the backward hemisphere (>100 degrees with respect to the momentum transfer) for 1.1 < W < 2.7 GeV and 0.65 < Q^2 < 4.52 GeV^2, using a 5.262 GeV electron beam.
Comment
Not included in the systematic errors are a 3% uncertainty due to possible final-state interactions and off-shell effects and a 3% uncertainty from global fits of F_2 for the deuteron.
